Chaze C249, mobile phone
A new multimedia phone christened the Chaze C249, recently washed up onto the shores of India. A product of the K. R. Mangalam Group, this handset comes incorporated with a 2.4-inch screen and an exclusive P.A. system.
The Chaze mobile phone is powered by a 1600mAh battery which reportedly provides a standby time of 25 days. Audiophiles could find this handset beneficial as it comes integrated with FM radio, an mp3 player, a video recorder and a 3.5mm audio jack. The C249 is preloaded with the Astro Pack which gives Indian users, easy access to Numerology, Rahu Kalam, Shubh Kalam and Kundali Milap.

Apple's China
Apple Inc's trademark battle moves to one of China's richest cities on Wednesday when a Shanghai court will deliberate a request by troubled technology company Proview to halt the sale of iPads across the city.
Proview Technology (Shenzhen) claims it owns the iPad trademark inChina and a Shenzhen court ruled in its favor last December. Proview has since launched a multi-pronged approach to get Apple's iPads off the shelves -- with mixed success.
Apple's iPad has a huge lead over rival tablet PCs in China with a 76 percent share. But it's not only the consumer market in China that is important for Apple because the country is also a major production base for the iPad and other Apple products.
Indeed, Proview Technology (Shenzhen) has already petitioned Chinese customs to stop shipments of the iPad in and out of China, although authorities have indicated such a ban would be difficult to impose.
Previous court rulings have covered specific retailers in smaller cities, but a Shanghai order, if imposed, would eat into one of Apple's biggest markets in China, which is home to three of its five flagship stores in China.
"This is a court in Shanghai which means that it has jurisdiction, and its order should be observed in Shanghai, which is one of the biggest cities and biggest markets for Apple iPads in China," said Kenny Wong, head of Mayer Brown's intellectual property practice in Hong Kong.
Proview is hoping that the district court will rule in its favor and grant an injunction to stop the sale of iPads in Shanghai, Proview's lawyer Roger Xie told Asian Legal Business, a Thomson Reuters publication, on Tuesday.
Lawyers said the judgment is not expected for a few months and that Apple would in any case have the option to appeal should it lose.
Apple disputes Proview's ownership of the trademark, saying it bought the trademark from Proview in 2009. The firm has appealed the Shenzhen judgment with a higher court hearing set for Feb 29 in China's southern province of Guangdong.
Apple's Shanghai unit is the defendant in the case due to be heard on Wednesday. Losing could mean the city's three Apple retail stores would have to stop selling the popular tablet PCs. Apple has two other flagship stores in China, both in Beijing.
Over the past week, Proview's efforts have borne fruit as local media reported that certain cities have started enforcing Proview's request to remove the iPads.
Proview's lawyers said on Friday it had won a lawsuit in the southern city of Huizhou against a retailer selling Apple's iPads, not boding well for its case in Shanghai.
"The Proview people probably remain fairly confident, in view of their success in Guangdong province already," Wong said of the Shanghai hearing on Wednesday.
CONTRASTING FORTUNES
The fortunes of Proview parent, Hong Kong-listed Proview International Holdings Ltd, stand in stark contrast to Apple's.
Founded by Yang Long-san in 1989, Proview was the first Taiwanese technology company to list in Hong Kong and by the end of the 1990s numbered itself among the top five computer monitor makers.
In 1999 it partnered with U.S. chip maker National Semiconductor to launch the I-PAD, a stripped-down desktop computer whose main selling points were its Internet connectivity and ease of use.
Proview continued to grow, shifting from computer monitors to become the world's third-largest OEM manufacturer of flat panel TVs. But by August 2009, when Apple began trademark talks through a proxy, Proview had been badly hammered by the financial crisis.
Since then things have only gotten worse. Trading of its stock was suspended in Hong Kong in August 2010 after creditors in China went to court to recover assets. The company faces delisting in June if it cannot provide the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with a viable rescue plan.
On Monday, Apple fired its own shot back at Proview, threatening to sue "individuals and entities" for damages that may arise from defamatory remarks that hurt Apple's reputation.
In a letter addressed to Yang, who remains chairman of the China subsidiary, and posted online by IDG News Service, Apple warned Yang against giving false information to the media and public (here). Reuters has confirmed its authenticity.
"It is inappropriate to release information contrary to the facts to the media, especially when such disclosures have the effect of wrongly causing damage to Apple's reputation. You will be held legally responsible for such activity," Apple said.

Wipro Infotech, the India, Middle East and Africa IT Business unit of Wipro Ltd today launched a series of ultra-portable notebooks, which includes the country's slimmest and first 14 inch ultrabook called theAeroUltra. The range comprises of Aero Alpha, Aero Book and Aero Ultra.
Aero Ultra comes with with about 19.3mm thickness, making it the slimmest notebook in the 14 inch category available in India. It weighs about 1.7 kg and comes with a 4GB memory and 500 GB hard disk. The e.go Aero range is priced between Rupees 39,000 and Rupees 49,000.
Ashok Tripathy, VP and Business Head, Wipro Systems and Technologies said the initial adoption of the product is expected to be at the enterprise level. "Wipro has understood that there is a need for light-weight, powerful yet affordable laptops in India. E.go primarily targets the progressive Indian on the move," he said.
According to research firm Gartner, the Indian PC markethad declined 6.5 per cent in the final quarter of 2011.The combined desk-based and mobile PC market in India totaled close to 2.5 million units.

Apple iPads
BEIJING: Authorities have seized Apple iPads from retailers in a city in northern China due to a dispute with a domestic company that says it owns the iPadname, an official said Monday. The Chinese company said it is asking for similar action in more than 20 other cities.
The dispute with Shenzhen Proview Technology threatens to complicate Apple's efforts to sell its popular tablet computer in China, its fastest-growing market.
Samsung launches 3 dual-SIM

With a 6.5 cm LQVGA, Capacitive Touch Screen, 3MP FF with VGA Video Telephony Camera and a 1,350 mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy Y Pro is priced at Rs 11,090/-.
Samsung Galaxy Y Duos (GT-S6102) is a touchscreen dual-SIM smartphone. Galaxy Y Duos comes with Social Hub and Samsung messenger, Chat ON. It has 3.14" screen with QVGA resolution and an 832 MHz processor.
Galaxy Y Duos is priced at Rs 10,490.
Samsung Champ Deluxe Duos' (C3312) features virtual QWERTY, Hindi language input, native Facebook and Twitter apps and all messengers including Yahoo, MSN, GTalk, etc. For connectivity, it comes with 3.0 Bluetooth, Push Mail with Activesync and Opera Mini Browser.
The smartphone has a 1.3MP camera, MP3 player, FM radio and 3.5mm ear jack. The device is priced at Rs 4790.
Samsung Star 3 Duos features include Push IM (Ch@tOn, mFluent), Native SNS (Facebook, Twitter), Weather Widget, Push email (EAS), POP3 email with WDS easy email setup, dictionary and hindi language input (3x4 keypad).
With a 3.0" QVGA TFT screen, 3 MP camera and 1000mAh battery, the device is priced at Rs 6290.
amsung, which claims to be the market leader in India's smartphone space with a 41 per cent market-share, expects its dual SIM devices to further consolidate its leadership.
""These devices combine the effectiveness of all smartphone features and give consumers the opportunity to maintain their work life balance. Dual SIM phones enable consumers to separate their personal life from their professional life,"" said Samsung India's country head (mobile & IT) Ranjit Yadav on Tuesday.
At present, one of the three dual SIM phones, the Galaxy Y Duos, is being rolled out of the company's mobile phone manufacturing unit in Noida. Eventually all three models will be manufactured there, said Yadav.
At present, the Noida unit can churn out some 2.5 million phones a month. Samsung has invested in excess of $70 million towards trebling cellphone manufacturing capacity here.
It is the Korean handset maker's sixth overseas manufacturing unit which churns out a mix of multimedia, dual sim and touchscreen phones. Samsung has installed highly advanced and hi-speed SMD machines at the mobile unit.
With the latest launch, Samsung has as many as 16 smartphone models in circulation in the domestic market which are priced between Rs 7,360 and Rs 38,250.
